This versatile cup features animals as depicted on a scroll kept in Kozan temple in Toganoo, Kyoto. It is one of the most popular designs that are representative of Kyoto and can be found on various items ranging from fans to fabric products. The rabbit, frog and monkey motif is painted using cobalt blue glaze on white porcelain so that it clearly stands out. There is even one rabbit on the inside of this cup, which has a non-traditional form with a higher base to create a sharp line and make it easier to hold.
