This is a copy of a vessel by Ogata Kenzan (1663-1743), who is considered an important figure in the history of Kyoto and Kiyomizu ware.
In the original, the vessel shows white camellias on a vivid green background.
Made with the same clay and glaze as the Raku tea bowl, this bowl is impressive for its elegant Raku ware-like red color and black mottled patterns that emerge.
Mukozuke" is a dish placed on the other side of the table, and is very useful in Kyoto cuisine and chakaiseki (tea ceremony). It is the star of the set, on which sashimi and other seasonal dishes are served.
