Created to commemorate the exhibition “Zen and Ghibli,” this special-edition matcha bowl, “The Blue Heron,” is a one-of-a-kind work of Kyoto craftsmanship.
Inspired by the Blue Heron featured in the film The Boy and the Heron, each bowl is individually hand-painted by skilled artisans using traditional Kiyomizu ware techniques from Kyoto.
The background evokes the rivers of Kyoto, where herons can be found, with willow trees and stepping stones depicting a serene riverside scene. Finished with traditional Kyoto-style overglaze painting and gold accents, this is a truly special matcha bowl.
Because each piece is entirely handmade, subtle variations in color, shape, and painted details may occur. We invite you to appreciate the unique character and beauty that can only be found in handcrafted ceramics.
