Tenmoku is considered the greatest treasure of pottery. The subtle and profound pattern in the surface is due to the change of the glaze in the kiln. Mysterious color tones like the universe or galaxies are created accidentally. Therefore, the patterns amongst the tenmoku pottery are not the same. The sake cup changes its color tone depending on the viewing angle. Once sake is poured into the cup, you can enjoy more of the various changes in colors due to optical refraction.
