This is a work by the Rakunyu Kiln in Kyoto, which mainly produces black and red Raku tea bowls that have been used in the tea ceremony since the time of Sen no Rikyu.
The figurines, which are produced using Raku ware, a pottery technique in which pottery is fired at a particularly low temperature, have a peculiarly soft atmosphere.
Decorated with gold and gold leaf, it is a festive gem perfect for the New Year's holiday.
